Journal 12/9/03 (23w5d): Chris has finally been able to feel Bean kick! A few days ago we were starting to fall asleep when Bean started moving around and I put Chris’ hand on “the belly”. Almost immediately he felt a big kick. He was pleasantly surprised. Olivia and Kelsie also had some fun trying to feel Bean moving around. It’s been great getting to know Bean’s routine (active before bed and before getting out of bed in the morning). Next appointment is Dec. 15th. 12/15/03 (24w4d): Here’s my 24w belly photo, taken a few days ago. I think I had better start taking them in the evening so I don’t have a goofy face on! Anyway been feeling great other than some aches and pains that surface when I’m trying to get out of bed to go pee in the middle of the night. Went to the doctor’s today, here are the stats: +18lbs, BP=118/74, urine is normal, bean’s HB=150, fundal height=24cm. Saw the CNM Sara – very nice and young =). Went over some warning signs I should call the office immediately for: bleeding, loss of fluid, regular contractions or no movement over a 24 hr period; a little frightening to contemplate but good to know. Chris started reading to Bean last night before bed – Beowulf (figures!). It’s nice because bean gets to hear his voice for half an hour at a time – and I get to hear the story. Next appointment is Jan. 15th for Gestational Diabetes screen – yuk! 12/19/03 (25w1d): Received a big package in the mail today – it was the stroller and car seat! Karen sent it from California as our Christmas and baby shower gift. We are so excited! I put it together in about 30 minutes, read all the paperwork and showed Chris how to use it. I also made and sent out a Thank You card. 12/28/03 (26w3d): Met up with my high school friends yesterday for our annual Christmas party – except it was a surprise baby shower! I was totally taken aback. I had no clue until the very last moment. It was so sweet. We got diapers, wipes, onesies, the playgym we registered for, and a handprint memories kit. It came complete with yummy cake, a balloon, flowers and stuffed animals! I’m feeling well these days. Bean’s moving around quite a bit, especially this morning. I was convinced there was a gymnastics event going on in there! We start our childbirth classes next week (Jan. 5th). Copyright © 2003 Jennifer A.P. & Christopher J.V. Paris . All rights reserved.
