Journal 10/10/03 (15w1d): Well, I’ve made it to 15 weeks! Feeling good most days now. Belly is starting to pop out more and more. Pretty soon it will be unmistakable (Yay!). Can’t wear any of my pre-pregnancy pants and hardly any of the tops (too short). Waiting for the supposed 2nd trimester “energy boost” – haven’t experienced it yet! Next appointment is with the midwife on the 20th. Can’t wait! 10/18/03 (16w2d): Pretty uneventful week, although I’ve had increased breast pain and something new – pelvic pain. From what I’ve read, it’s entirely normal. The ligaments are stretching and the bones are starting to separate. It’s a very strange sensation to say the least! “Morning” sickness is mostly gone. As long as I eat a little bit every couple of hours I’m great. One thing that’s changed is how much I can eat in one sitting – practically nothing! Just not enough room I guess. There’s a picture of my belly @ 16 wks… go see it. 10/21/03 (16w5d): FINALLY! We heard bean’s heartbeat yesterday! Chris recorded it at 155 bpm and you can listen to it here. I’ve gained a total of 12lbs (a little ahead of schedule), and everything looks good. Blood pressure was 120/80. Next appointment is the “big” ultrasound and meeting with the second OB in the office (Dr. Seigil). Hopefully we get to hear the heartbeat every visit from now on! 10/30/03 (18w0d): I can’t believe how fast time is going by. I’m feeling pretty good now. Heartburn is becoming increasingly prevalent; basically morning, noon and night. Tums works only for so long so I checked with the nurse and Gaviscon (recommended by a recently pregnant friend) is okay to use. Picked some up tonight but it’s the tablet form. My guess is that the liquid would work better/faster. We’ll see. Another change is that I’m dreaming very vividly – not always pleasant either – but bearable. And since my stomach cannot expand below my navel anymore (because bean’s in the way) it just expands “out” – so much so that my stomach is rock hard right after eating and for about one hour longer. Getting excited about our next appointment (11/17) when we’ll have our “big” ultrasound, which is 45 minutes long. Wow! This weekend we’re relaxing at a hotel in Manchester (thanks to Jess & Dave!). Looking forward to swimming in the pool and sleeping in the big bed!! Copyright © 2003 Jennifer A.P. & Christopher J.V. Paris . All rights reserved. Last modified: 11-13-03.
